This is the Mother Ann Lee hydroelectric plant near Shakertown (Ann Lee founded the Shakers).
This turbine is one of three that provides renewable power.
Centre students voted to tax themselves to help pay for this turbine. The plant produces the equivalent about about a quarter of Centre's power.
If you look closely, you can see the Centre stencil at the top of the turbine.

That's great!
How did the students go about taxing themselves? How much was each student taxed? How much did the students raise in total?
REPRESENT ECCO 2008 =)
It was only 20 bucks more per student in their fees/tuition... enough to power an entire building with green energy.
And it was put to a popular vote, and 82% of the students supported it...
Thank you Kerri (who deserves some of the credit for the success of this very popular initiative).
It was mostly Katlyn C. and Xtanna S., but I was glad to be VP and help them that year.
How much did you guys raise in total.
