Three Milestones

Today, as I return to the blog from vacation (for which I thank you all), I mark three milestones.

First, we begin classes this morning. This is a rich and wonderful thing.

Second, immediately after class, I take my eldest child to college for the first time. This is also a rich and wonderful thing, though it comes with some emotional trauma.

Third, today is the one-year anniversary of the start of this blog. I would welcome your assessments.

Happy anniversary. Mine was two weeks ago.

It has been a pleasure reading your blog. over the past year, and I look forward to more good reading.

I may be a few years older than you, but I got a later start on a family. My son is 5 years away from college, but I suspect it will also be a time of complex emotions.

Welcome back. My assessment of your blog is that it provides a welcome moment of sane reflection on a wide range of engaging topics. You are appreciated by those who regularly visit.

My other observation is that the second milestone you mentioned will be more wrenching than you thought it would be...at least it was for me a couple of years ago. Funny how we spend 18 years preparing our children for independence, but are generally unprepared for that independence ourselves. But it gets better....just in time to go through it again with child #2!

This is one of the more intelligent and intellectual blogs out there.

You are to be commended for the way that you discuss issues without pointing fingers very often.

Happy blogversary! I just found you a bit before GA, but have certainly enjoyed and learned a lot from your thoughtful posts.

Good luck with taking that child to college. I found it harder to take the second than the first because then I was truly faced with the empty nest!
