We Are Not Stuck in the Middle: We Aspire to the Center

A centrist aphorism the came to me today.

As in "Perfect is the enemy of good enough?" I'm not certain that aspiring for the mediocre middle is what we really want.

The center or the middle need not mean mediocre. More often than we admit, many problems we face are actually polarities to be managed. Breathing is about inhaling and exhaling. Choose just one and you are dead. Try find a static place between the two and you are also dead. Embrace both hardily and you end up with an effect that is a balance in the middle between the two.

Nice analogy, but not always applicable. Norming can often penalize the truly gifted.
