President Obama Tweets a Bad Thing Into a Good

MacArthur High School in Irving, TX displayed a sadly paranoid and probably racist reaction to clever student Ahmed Mohamad's home-made clock.  The school confiscated his clock, had him taken away in handcuffs, and suspended him for several days.  They compounded their foolishness by blaming the child.

President Obama, though, turned this shameful episode to good with one tweet:

Cool clock, Ahmed. Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like science. It's what makes America great.

A child extends his forefinger and thumb in a classroom or on a playground and he is promptly suspended (e.g., 10-year-old Nathan Entingh, Columbus, Ohio, March 2014 “level 2 look alike firearm;" 8-year-old Jordan Bennett, St. Cloud, Florida 2013) and, in some reported cases, arrested (13-year-old Tamaqua (Pennsylvania) Middle School seventh grade student who made a gesture with his fingers in reference to a gun while pointing at fellow students; State Police said the boy will be charged with disorderly conduct and will be suspended from school. 2012). None are invited to the White House.

High School student who is of Middle Eastern extraction (the same people who toppled the twin towers, rammed the Pentagon, sent shoe bombers to blow airplanes out of the air over the US, have perfected the art of the IED, and have recruited Islamic kids to join ISIS) brings a jury-rigged item that looks like a timer attached to a possible bomb to a school – and liberals go nuts when he is arrested. Can someone explain to me the double standard? Please?

Both cases represent foolish over-reaction, but only the second case is based on racial and religious paranoia.

Paranoia? Have you been asleep for the past 14 years? Even paranoids have enemies and I prefer making sure we don't lose a whole school full of children for fear of offending a few people who should have known better than send an Islamic kid to school with what could have been a bomb.

The great majority of political attacks in this country have come from white boys who love guns. That is the demographic that schools worry most about.

in response to your deleted comment: "Recent studies reveal that most school shooters are White males, with 97 percent being male and 79 percent White. Over the last three decades, 90 percent of high school or elementary school shootings were the result of White, often upper-middle class, perpetrators" - See more at: http://www.politicalresearch.org/2014/06/19/mass-shooters-have-a-gender-and-a-race/#sthash.14BxAWqO.dpuf
