The teen birth rate is down 6% since last year - the lowest level recorded in 70 years of U.S. statistics.
The young adult birth rate is down 7% since last year.
Both drops are probably due to the bad economy - girls and women choosing not to have babies because it will be harder to afford them.
Which demonstrates that most of the teen pregnancy rate is not due to ignorance or an inability to plan.

The new data does seem to support the above statement and yet it still somehow seems unlikely to me.
Perhaps the lower birthrate is not connected to less ignorance or better planning but to an economic reality that leads more pregnant teens to avail themselves of their constitutionally protected right to end their pregnancies?

Is young adult birth rate and the pregnancy rate the same in this study or does abortion play a part? Are there more abortions so the birthrate is lower or less pregnancies to begin with?
The number of abortions has also been declining. I think this means fewer teens are choosing to put themselves in the way of getting pregnant.
