Very good article that gives hope to those of us yet to get married, but in a serious relationship.
I disagree with one of the author's conclusive statements however. It is stated that a couple can't fake religion in order to better its odds of a strong marriage. I think this scenario can fall under the same grouping as buying a new house. The author indicates that part of the benefit of buying a new house is that it ties the couple to a community. Likewise, joining a church (or other religious community) gives the couple a vested connection to that community. Even if it has problems with organized religion, the couple will have a community on which to rely that wants to keep it together. The faith can come later.
