The most that anyone could do is offer a plausible mechanism for how people might have arisen from the muck and slime. There is no rigorous scientific test possible of whether God guided evolution, or created souls within us, or has a special purpose for us beyond being worm food, or created the entire universe in the first place.

To assert otherwise is to make a faith statement. To insist that only that faith is valid is to make a dogmatic faith statement.Gruntledhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14377809238377382438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16201378.post-45311109342862321462008-02-24T16:50:00.000-05:002008-02-24T16:50:00.000-05:00I strongly disagree with your conclusion. I care about how this scientific theory is derived and tested. I am not fearful, dogmatic, or closed-minded about the results. If rigorous scientific testing and debate shows that we rose from muck and slime and will become worm food when we die, this is fine with me. I am not afraid of creationists. I feel sorry for them, as I would feel about someone who still believes in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy at an advanced age.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16201378.post-50224461573532626882008-02-18T11:21:00.000-05:002008-02-18T11:21:00.000-05:00...He thought that lying behind the passion on eac......He thought that lying behind the passion on each side of the creation/evolution debate was a deep emotion: each side feared the other. One of the scientists objected to this characterization, contending that he didn't fear the creationists, just their ignorance. I can't help but think that this attitude -- that the other side disagrees with us only because they are ignorant, fearful, and dogmatic -- will not help.

Indeed, attending an evolutionist testimonial service shows the knowledge class -- which thinks of itself as the embodiment of reason, logic, and open-mindedness -- at its most fearful, dogmatic, and close-minded.

Excellent analysis, Dr. WestonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
